Here are my additions (with a brief annotation) for journalists interested in an early exposure to real world stories and hard core investigative journalism skills of the sort it takes to make it in tough reporting environments in Africa.

  1. Brandeis University, Schuster Institute of Investigative Journalism

Brandeis does a lot of work with veteran journalists focusing on human trafficking and modern slavery. They also have an Innocence Project, under which journalists probe the judicial system for wrongful conviction cases. One of their latest stories appeared in the Boston Globe here.
